Interpretations of Educations

I am so tempted to spend this whole blog talking about love, relationships, and the broken heart that I feel as a result of my best friends parting ways. I know that I am a helpless romantic so I will try not to pour my soul out to you on here. So......

Education! As you know, I am in my senior year at Kean University. I am graduating in May with a Bachelor degree in English. (HALLELUJAH) I have been sitting in my classes the past few weeks and I started thinking about my childhood. As a child my mother tried to instill Christian beliefs and moral values in me. I was happy to follow her lead and grew up believing in GOD and followoing the teachings of the Bible. My mother also was a firm believer in education. School was not an option, but a neccesity. When I finally came out (of the closet) my mother was horrified and stopped talking to me for a year. We are now speaking and have a somewhat normal relationship. My religous beliefs were tested as I began to ask myself questions about being gay and a christian. I soon learned that love is love. I believe that I will not be punished for loving another human being, regardless of gender. As I am attending my college courses (the ones that my mother says were so important to take), I am learning that the bible is full of contradictions. My professors teach against the bible and against natural religion. One of my professors even stated that Jesus Christ was gay and having "relations" with his disciples. Now, I laugh at some of my professors, but the interesting thing is that the same institution that my mother built up in my head is the same one that is destroying the religous belifs that she worked so hard to instill. I guess that is irony. Education is great. Education is not for the meek. You have to be strong in yourself and in your own beliefs. Know who you are. Do not let anyone-teacher, parents, friends, preacher-anyone tell you what or who to believe in. You have to find your own way. In the end, Love is the answer. Love yourself, Love your neighbor, Love your enemy, Love your brother, Love everyone......I guess that is spoken like a true helpless romantic. lol sorry.

...And so it goes

Hmmmmmmm...Jesus is gay eh? Can't say that I agree with that at all. Funny thing about college professors especially in this day and age is that they take their beliefs and push them upon impressionable young individuals instead of educating. One thing for certain is that everything must be taken with a grain of salt.

One thing about me is that I don't go thru this internal battle between my religious beliefs and my character. I know God and he knows all about me. He loves me and I love him. I am not religious, I just love the Lord! Yes the bible does have contradictions but that is why it is important that you have a personal relationship with God. (I feel like I'm rambling...) Love yourself and God will Love you despite your faults. Well all have them. I think that's it for now but I know I will have more to say tomorrow...

I thought i was a " Christian with questions " till i woke up a while ago and realized i do not believe in christianity (and a bunch of other religons) for the simple reason that i do not trust other human beings enough to live by a book a bunch of em wrote...

I almost pass out everytime somebody is saying something serious and quotes the bible...
so i just believe in the concept of God, which includes love :-)

@ blaq n mild, you were rambling...lol, but I agree with you. The more time I spend away from church and learn about the bible, the more I turn away from religion. Now I'm focusing on knowing me, staying true to my values and being the best jay I can be.

good stuff! i was afraid to ell my mom. when i did she stated that I was going against my teachings. Luckily, within the same conversation, my mom told me that she loved me. more to come on that issue...

now, being someone heavily into church, i rarely go for the reason that they mainly preach and teach oneness yet there are many divisions, especially when it comes to the gay issue. Yet it is also funny that drug deals can go down literally on the steps of the church, yet no one has the "balls" to approach them about their "sins."

Back to the point at hand. Love is love as you stated. Christ taught about loving your neighbor as yourself. Gay, Straight, Bi or whatever it may be, the principle is the same...JUST LOVE!

EDUCATION IS NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART! It will take you places you never expected to go. Being educated outside of the books and having an open mind to various beliefs and cultures maybe the best education available. It is in this education that one truly grows.

All of the above is dapper!

As a person who went from one extreme religion to another, I've witnessed firsthand how people can manipulate and misinterpret the Bible into what they want it to say. Even though I still go to church, I have learned to not go by what people say, cause people will steer you wrong! And just like Blaq said, it's so important to seek the truth and know God for yourself and not rely on the words of others. After all, there's only one Judge, and He's nowhere on this Earth!

I matriculated in two well-respected universities. I sat in the same courses that were taught by well-known professors in religion, ethics, logic, humanities and I heard the same teachings about Jesus and Christianity.

However, I determined that their perspectives were more theory, which is fallible. They present truthful evidence, but compound their evidence with theory, which still doesn't make it logically correct.

Believing in God is by faith, which is beyond the realm of the natural. Most of these professors are not in salvation, have no faith and have no understanding and relationship with God to know what is right and what is wrong. The ONLY way to know that is to have the holy spirit and a prayer life in God.

Lastly, love is not just love. What we love and how we love something means a lot to God. If love is just love, then Israel would never went through the wilderness for forty years because their punishment was loving false gods, gold, food and idols over the living God. If you really think God is all love and love inclusive, then you are not talking about the God in heaven, because the God in heaven is love but also He is holy. Immoral and impure love (lust) cannot dwell in His presence. What we do will be judged by fire.

I was in a class in college, where I had to prove that GOD did not exsist. At first, I was like, heck no! GOD does exsist!

But the lesson in this was, WHY do you think GOD exsist. What is the definition of GOD, and how does GOD appear real to all of us.

To come up with a difinitive defintion to GOD will never happen. You Can't just use one book and one group of peoples definition for all time, and that is what is happening.

GOD is way more then that. The same thing with LOVE... the Captain's thinking of LOVE and everyone else's thinking of LOVE are different. So until we all sit down and say, lets look and see love this way, then we will acheive peace.

For some people, they are brought up to see the bible/religion/Christianity as one way. Their idea of faith is to reject anything that they believe contrary without giving to reason, facts, or otherwise. Coincidentally this is contrary to the bible as it says, "Come, let us reason together" regarding the scriptures. Which alone tells you that there will be different interpretations.

I find it interesting that many christians will acknowledge that the bible had rules that changed during time. For example, when a man died, his wife had to marry his brother, they couldn't eat certain seafood, kids were stoned for disobedience, etc. But these same people don't believe that maybe, just maybe these rules are still changing today.

I feel like I can go on and on but this is not my blog. lol

my christian friends tell me that i'm too smart for heaven: that my education and ratiocinations are damning me to hell. but when a theologian scientist steps up and asserts the existence of God, hurray for education and modern science. what they fail to mention is that the evidence does not point to their God, it only affirms what the enlightened already know in their spirits, that Love exists

p.s. you're a romantic? wow, didn't know that...that's hot...
